Our mission is to strengthen democracy in Romania by encouraging civic participation
Who we are
  • The PDA Timisoara Club is a branch of Pro Democracy Association (PDA). This is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-party affiliated organization.
  • Pro Democracy Association was founded in site about luxor mahjong 1990. It has a pronounced civic character and acts nation-wide through a network of 25 branches in which over 900 citizens (volunteers and members) are active.
  • The PDA Timisoara Club was founded in 1990, and since 2002 it functions as a Regional Resources Center for Pro Democracy Clubs in the counties: Arad, Caras-Severin, Hunedoara and Timis.

  • the relationship between voters and their elected officials;
  • the electoral process;
  • civic education;
  • citizens' participation in the process of elaborating public politics;
  • public institutions from the perspective of transparency in the decisional process;
  • the control of civic society over the state's institutions;
  • human rights.

    The Association's principles of functioning:
  • Political nonpartisanship
    In its activities, Pro Democracy Association doesn't favor any political ideology, candidate, party, or coalition of such;
  • Volunteering
    Activities within the Association's programs are mainly carried out by volunteers, either members of the Association or persons joining it in order to implement a certain program;
  • The clubs' autonomy and distribution of decision capabilities to regions, counties and clubs.

    Midterm objectives of Pro Democracy Association
  • increasing the transparency of the decisional process at the level of local public administration;
  • improving citizens' participation in the process of adopting local level public decisions;
  • reducing the politicization degree of civil servants and public services;
  • improving the educational process by drafting a handbook of civic education for high-schools;
  • drafting and promoting the adoption of a law against extremism.

    In parallel with the interest of the Romanian society for the European integration process of our country
    and in the frame of the Euroregional context provided by the geographical position of the Timis county, member of the DKMT Euroregion, the PDA Timisoara Club is interested in developing
    cross-border projects in partnership with non-governmental organizations from Hungary and Serbia
    in accordance with our mission statement:
    "to strengthen democracy by encouraging civic participation".
